Rita Jean Simmons

Rita Jean Simmons passed away on January 31,2024 surrounded by family.

Jean was born on January 2, 1935 in Fairfield, Iowa. She married her husband Karl on August 26, 1950 and they were married for 53 years until his passing in 2004.  She enjoyed spending time with family. She retired from Wal Mart in Plano.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Karl Simmons; three sons, Eugene Simmons, Wayne Simmons, and infant Wyatt Simmons; one daughter Becky Hatton; one great-granddaughter Kadynce Stadler; one sister and four brothers.

Jean is survived by two daughters, Bev (Bob) Winburn of Bardwell, Ky and Kathy (Jeremy) Porter of Auburn, Ga; six grandchildren, Karl (Kim) Hatton, Kelly Stadler, Scott Stadler, Karly Simmons, Xavier Porter, Emmett Porter, adopted granddaughter Cassey and her family; 12 great- grandkids and two great-great-grandkids.

A memorial service will be held in Sandwich, IL at a later date. There will be a small family graveside service held at Thompson cemetery in Farmington, IA.
