Biography

Alma Imogene “Jean” Curtis Billington, 85 of Paducah passed away at 5:00 am Monday, April 23, 2012 at Lourdes Hospital.

Born on August 15, 1926, she was the daughter of Vard and Ola Mae Cargill Curtis. She married Samuel B. Billington on March 14, 1946.

Jean retired from General Motors - Pontiac Division in 1983. She was an active member of the Clara Henrich Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed weekly outings with the Friday Lunch Bunch.

Surviving are five daughters, Sandra J. (Garry) Gilliam of Tuscaloosa, AL, Dorothy M. O’Brien of Clarkston, MI, Sheryl A. (John) Yoakum of Monroe, MI, Marsha D. (Bobby) Sherfy of Mt. Morris, MI, and Lynda S. (Darrell) Portis of Symsonia; three sons, Sam J. (Sarah Jane) Billington of Gainesville, VA, Gary C. (Renee) Billington of Attica, MI, and Charles R. Billington of White Lake, MI; one sister, Bea Chester of Paducah; one sister in law, Diane Curtis of Cadiz; one brother in law, Marvin Jennings of Waterford, MI; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and by three sisters, Arrettia Boyle, Margaret “Annie” Smith, and Netsy Jennings; as well as three brothers, Harrison Curtis, Vard Curtis Jr., and Al Curtis.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Thursday at Maplelawn Park Cemetery, with Bro. Jared Baker officiating.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday at Lindsey Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clara Henrich Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
