Beatrice Guill Tapp, of Paducah, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, surrounded by her family.
She is a graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School, Class of 1951, University of Louisville/Louisville General Hospital graduate in 1957. Upon graduation, she served an internship at Riverside Hospital, Paducah, following which she was employed by the Orthopaedic Clinic of Samuel L. French, M.D., where she remained until her retirement in 1993. During her career in the medical field, her professional affiliations included membership in the WKSRT Society, PASRT Society, and held lifetime memberships in the KSRT, ASRT, and AART Professional Organizations.
Bea was fond of all sports, especially UK Basketball, and enjoyed playing golf with her friends at Paxton Park, Rolling Hills Country Club and Metropolis Country Club. She also loved Duplicate Bridge and was a member of Echo Duplicate Bridge Club and Sebring Florida Duplicate Bridge Center. She volunteered in many civic organizations: Market House Theater, Paducah Symphony Orchestra, and American Cancer Society.
She loved her church, First Baptist of Paducah, especially all her dedicated friends in the back Amen corner, and participated in the Exercise Classes, the flower ministry and the Tuesday Outreach Ministry at First Baptist. She was also blessed to have the title of Snowbird member of Union Congregational Church in Sebring, Florida during the winter months. She formerly attended Southland Baptist Temple.
She was blessed with many friends who have volunteered their services in many ways to assist the family throughout her lengthy illness. The family extends sincere heartfelt thanks to all who did so much for our Mom.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Shelley Tapp of Texas and Rhonda Tapp Edwards, of Paducah; two loving sisters, Helen Guill Miller and Margaret Guill Neihoff; and her sister in law Gladys Guill, and special nieces and nephews, Leisa Neihoff, Kathy Miller Moss, Mark Miller and Kevin Miller, and a loving extended family of cousins.
A special Thank You to Mom’s “Prayer Warriors” who were so supportive and faithful. These include her “fitness family,” also, her Tuesday outreach group. Mom felt your prayers which provided her the support and faith to keep fighting. God Bless each one. Also, the family wants to extend our heartfelt thanks to Rev. Tommy Tucker for guiding Mom through the dark valleys all the way to the mountain top.
She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond S. Guill and Ida Webb Guill; her faithful and caring brother, Billy Guill; two very special nephews, Gregory and Steve Neihoff; and two special aunts, LaVerne Guill Malone and Jeanette Guill McClintock.
