Betty June (Loe) Langston

Paducah

Mrs. Betty Langston, age 89, former resident of Marshal County, KY, went home to be with our lord and savior April 27th, 2021. Mrs. Langston was born in Paducah, KY, on June 10th, 1931 and was the 5th of nine children of Harry and Celia Metcalf Loe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Irvin Green Langston Sr.; her brothers Harry Jr., Bill, and James; and her sister Delania Hawkins.

She is survived by brother Omar Gene Loe and her sisters, Barbara Mason, Patricia Boyd, and Donna Hunt of Paducah; her daughters Deborah (John) Joyce (Benton, KY), Sheila (Ramon) Priddy (Paducah, KY), Ellen (Clarkie) Blakemore (Paducah, KY), and her son Irvin (Jean) Langston Jr. (Paducah, KY).

She is also survived by several grandchildren: John (Amanda) Joyce Jr., Amy Joyce (Dan) Hudson, April Joyce, Joshua (Katey) Joyce, Christina (Rodney) Hook, Joseph (Sheyra) Langston, Matthew (Jessica) Langston, Tony Blakemore, Maurice Blakemore, Jessica Blakemore, and Nikki Blakemore; 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Betty worked as a young girl at Tootsies grocery and Kresges. Later she was employed by Finkels and Uncle Lee’s Sporting Goods of Paducah. She retired after many years from Lourdes Hospital Dietary Department where she made lifelong friends that loved her like family. They showered her with love and attention while she battled breast cancer.

She read her bible every day. Her Sunday ritual was Brother Don Young’s program on the television.

She loved word search puzzles and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She attended births, graduations, school plays, weddings, anniversaries, and joined in family trips.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She adored her sisters and brothers, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Her birthdays, Mother’s Days, and Christmas celebrations were the highlights of her life.

One of her favorite joys was having a home of her own. She took great care of it for over 20 years.

Services for Betty Langston will be held Friday, April 30th at Lindsey Funeral Home with a visitation from 10 AM to 11 AM, with the service being held at 11 AM. Bishop John Joyce will be officiating the service. She will be laid to rest at Maplelawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will include her grandsons and great grandsons, John Joyce Jr., Joshua Joyce, Joseph Langston, Matthew Langston, Ethan Mensch, Jared Mensch, Mason Mensch, and Quan Matchem Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mercy Health Hospice of Paducah.

Lindsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
