Billie” Bill” Davenport, 88, of Boaz, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Southgate Nursing and Rehab in Metropolis.
Bill worked numerous careers throughout his life, from being a deputy with Graves County Sheriffs Department, to Lone Oak Police Department, McCracken County Auxiliary Police, to retiring as a diesel mechanic at Paducah Ford. Bill was also a member of the gospel group The Peacemakers and West Kentucky Gospel Music Association. In his free time, he loved riding horses and four wheelers. He was an avid outdoorsman and UK Basketball fan. Bill was a one-of-a-kind jokester who loved to make those around him laugh. He was a member of the Wice Memorial Baptist Church in Boaz.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra Davenport; three children, Keith (Betsy) Davenport, Leslie (Butch Hart) Moore, and Dwight (Jennifer Pendley) Davenport; four grandchildren, Becky (Matt) Elliot, Kathryn (Alex Ligon) Moore, Sarah Moore, and Steven Davenport; four great-grandchildren, Spencer Bolton, Claire Neihof, Arthur Elliot, and Christopher Davenport; one niece, Shana Terry; and his best four-legged friend, Sporty.
Preceding Bill in death are his parents, Thurman and Cordelia Davenport; and three siblings, Earnestine Poat, Joe Davenport, and Baby Mildred.
Service for Bill will be held at a later date.
Lindsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
