Buford Paul McGuire,62, of Metropolis passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN with his family by his side.
Mr. McGuire was a former bread salesman with Wonder Bread, Colonial Bread, and Little Debbie; alderman in Metropolis; and former pastor of Upper Salem Baptist Church. He was a member of First Baptist Church Brookport.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, bowling and playing with grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Kathy Hamlin McGuire of Metropolis; two children, Rebecca (Matt) Steinmetz and Brian McGuire both of Metropolis; one brother, David (Janice) McGuire of Metropolis; four grandchildren, Kara Story, Allison Steinmetz, Sara McGuire, and Brent McGuire; one nephew, David McGuire of Moline, IL; and one niece, Angela Dublin of Metropolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don McGuire and Ann Ballard McGuire; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. David “Buck” Siere officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Mayfield, KY.
Friends may visit the family from 5:00pm – 8:00pm on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Lindsey Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Baptist Children’s Home at 949 County Rd. 1300 N Carmi, IL 62821.
