Carolyn Burkeen

Carolyn “Cookie” Hiett Burkeen, 58, of Paducah died at 5:42 p.m. Saturday at Lourdes hospital.

She was a former cook for Excell Marine and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Hardin Walston; two sons, Joe Hiett and Michael Hiett, both of Paducah; one sister, Debbie Johnson of Paducah; one stepbrother, Phillip Walston of Paducah; two stepsisters, Linda Obryan of Carlisle, Ohio, and Teresa Brown of Miamisburg, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Nunley; her husband, Jerry Burkeen; stepfather, Edwin Walston, and stepbrother, David Walston.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Sams officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
