David E. Yocum

David Edward Yocum, 20, of Metropolis, went to be with our Lord suddenly on Sunday even, July 16, 2023.

David was born in Paducah at Western Baptist Hospital and grew up in Metropolis, Illinois. He loved all things outdoors- hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and canoeing. He had many hobbies over the years including woodworking, forging knives on his anvil, dirt biking, and once he got his drivers license riding and tinkering with motorcycles. He could ride a unicycle, juggle and breathe fire, do fire poi, play the guitar beautifully, write his own songs, skin a deer or a squirrel, or build anything. He was an artist who did all his owns tattoos and even a few for close friends and family.

David is survived by his parents, Fred and Heidi Yocum; two sisters, Grace Stewart and her husband, Tommy and their daughter, Moxie; Olivia Yocum and her fiancé, Tim Massey; one brother, John Yocum and his fiancé, Whitney Snodgrass; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Louise Wright; one paternal grandmother, Ele Reinecke; one uncle on his fathers side, Todd and his two children, Emily Yocum Black and Daniel Yocum; one aunt on his fathers side, Dawn Lomas and her four children, Laura Sither, Warren VanWyck, Jennifer VanWyck, and Gina VanWyck; one uncle on his mothers side, Benjamin Faust; aunt and uncle on his mothers side, Amanda and Clay McNichols and their children, Sofia, Delaney, and Kensie; close friends, Becca Evans, Truman Frazier, Brayden Cressler, Elijah Peyton, Uriah Virzi, Akyra Napier, and Sawyer Flowers.

Preceding David in death are his paternal grandfathers, Fred D. Yocum Sr. and Bill Reinecke.

Services for David will be held Monday, July 24, 2023, at Faith Center located at 4465 Hansen Road Paducah, KY with visitation from 2:00pm – 5:00pm. Services will begin at 5:00pm. A meal will follow the services for the family and close friends.
