Della "Liz" Lizabeth Flournoy

Della “Liz” Flournoy, 85, of Paducah, died Thursday evening, October 5th, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She retired after 32 years of working for the Purchase District Health Department in HR and accounting. Liz loved the outdoors, gardening, and raising flowers, and admiring the butterflies she could see. She most importantly loved her family and spending time with them, which sometimes included bargain hunting at some of her favorite stores. Liz was also of the Baptist faith.

Liz is survived by her husband of 58 years, William Flournoy Sr.; four children, Betty (Brian) Flournoy Sayner, Debbie Gibbs Lawson, & William (Jennifer) Flournoy Jr., John (Debbie) Gibbs, all of Paducah; step daughter Ann Flournoy of Mayfield; one step sister, Patsy Fondaw; eight grandchildren, Amanda Flournoy, Evan Sayner, Kevin(Jill) Herndon, Cory Herndon, Gerren Lawson, Hank Flournoy, Chasity Gibbs, & Wesley Gibbs; eight great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and four nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Irene LaRue Churchwell; and two siblings, June Churchwell, and Pace Crider.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 16th, 2017 at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah starting at 1pm with Brother Mike Williams officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
