Denis “Pappy” Coomes, 64, of Calvert City, died Thursday morning, March 31st, 2016 at his home. Denis was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved joking around with his family. He was of the Baptist faith and attended The Potter’s House in Smithland, Ky.
Denis is survived by his wife of 14 years, Patsy of Calvert City; one son, Stephen (Vanessa) Coomes of Falls of Rough, Ky.; four daughters, Barbara (Vance) Curl of Budah, Texas, Stacy (Dave) Thompson of Owensboro, Ky., Donna (Darrick) Lee of Ledbetter, Ky., and Becky (Jermy) Harberson of Slaughters, Ky.; his mother, Viola Coomes of Calhoun, Ky.; two sisters, Vickie Henderson of Ohio County, Ky., and Sue (Lynn) Dwire of Hansen, Ky.; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a special nephew, Donnie Bozarth of Utica, Ky.; several other nieces and nephews; and his buddy and sidekick dog, Jessie.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Louis Coomes; one brother, Jim Coomes; and one sister; Connie Lindsey.
At the request of Denis, there will be no services held.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Hope Lodge in Nashville, Tn.
