Dennis Robins

Dennis Daryle Robins Sr., 64, a resident of Paducah passed away at 4:35 pm, June 22, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital.
Mr. Robins was born in Detroit, MI on November 16, 1948 to the late Howard Eugene and Gertrude Browning Robins.
He was a 1967 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and attended Paducah Junior College. He worked as an iron worker for over 20 years with Local #782 of Paducah. He retired from the U.S. Shelter Management Corporation (Ferwood Homes in Paducah) as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Lord’s Church and a devoted Christian. He worked with area congregations as a Bible class teacher, preacher, and song leader. He worked with Sunny Slope Church of Christ, Central Church of Christ, Houser Grove Church of Christ, Heath Church of Christ, Clements Street Church of Christ and others in the area. He loved fishing, camping, and the great outdoors. He enjoyed looking into the family history and checking out old cemeteries. He was an avid Citizen’s Band Communication operator in the 70’s and 80’s. He went by the title “Mr. Bascum” and “Cookie Monster”.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Nancy Wellington Robins, whom he married 44 years ago on April 11, 1969 at Clements Street Church of Christ; two sons, Dennis Daryle Robins Jr. and Thomas Eugene Robins, both of Paducah; two grandsons, Dailey Thomas Robins of Paducah, and Bentley Ashton Robins of West Paducah; one sister, Nina Carolyn Robins Leitch (Tom) of Cookville, TN; one brother, Charles Randall Robins of Calvert City; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Bascum Robins; one brother, Howard Eugene “Buddy” Robins Jr.; and his parents, Howard Eugene Robins and Gertrude Browning Robins.
Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah with Gary Knuckles and Jim Faughn officiating. There will be no graveside services. Interment will be at a later date at Maplelawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00- 8:00 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home.
