Dennis Martin Smith
May 23, 1946 — July 9, 2017
Dennis M. Smith, of Brookport, IL., died Sunday evening, July 9th, 2017 at Baptist Health of Paducah.
Dennis was a retired engineer for Teco Barge Co. and a member of Free Spirit Church of Paducah and Bay City Masonic Lodge #771.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joan; three siblings, Don (Norma) Smith of Metropolis, Marilyn (Bob) Cain of Paducah, and David (Chris) Smith of Paducah; two grandchildren, Krystal Suggs of Hamletsburg, and Joey Wayne Hudspeth of Brookport; two great grandchildren, Kandace and Blake Suggs; daughter in law, Janie Hudspeth; several nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Baby Face.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Wesley and Emma Waynick Smith; two sons, Robert Crawford, and Kenneth Hudspeth; and one great grandchild, Katelyn Suggs.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, July 13th, 2017 at Lindsey Funeral Home of Paducah from 4pm until 6pm. Masonic Rites will be given at 6pm following visitation along with funeral services officiated by Rev. Dennis Lawrence. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or the Free Spirit Biker Church of Paducah, Ky.
