Dorothy G. Carter, 100, of Paducah, Ky., passed away at 11:00am on Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Paducah.
Dorothy was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church in Paducah, a former employee of Clausner’s Hoisery Mill, an avid quilter, and a volunteer for many years with the National Quilt Museum of Paducah.
Ms. Carter is survived by her five grandchildren, Christopher K. Hooks of Houston, TX., Caroline M. (Scott) Bratton of Katy, TX., Deborah A. (David) Krakoski of Spring, TX., Douglas A. (Elizabeth) Hooks of Austin, TX., and Anita E. Kelly of Norfolk, VA.; eight great grandchildren, Jake and Audrey Bratton, Blake Hooks, Emma and Claire Krakoski, and Riley, Morgan, and Jesse Hooks.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Charles W. Carter, and William F. Kelly; her daughter, Joyce K. Hooks; her son, William Gary Kelly; two sisters, Sarah Lee Wilson, and Mary Margaret Ott; one brother, Thomas Gilbert; and her parents, Edward H. and Grace Niehoff Gilbert.
A Funeral Mass will be held at noon on Friday, October 20th, 2017 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with Father Bruce McCarty officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy in the form of a memorial gift contribution may be made in her honor to St. Francis deSales Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
