Dr. William Gordon Cummings, born October 19, 1942 died on the morning of December 28, 2023 at the Vanderbilt Critical Care Unit at the age of 81.
William, known as “Bill” or “Doc,” was a loving father, caring “Pop Pop,” and had passion for life, family, veterinary medicine, flying, and farming (cow whisperer). As one of the longest standing figures in Western Kentucky Veterinary Medicine, he is leaving behind a lasting legacy. He provided animals with committed care for over 56 years.
He leaves many to cherish his memory, including two daughters, Drs. Karen and Jason Banister and Mackenzie and Adam Peddicord; his significant other, Joni Emmerson; five grandchildren, Sarah (Brett) Ezell, David (Songhyun) Banister, Sam Banister, Reagan Peddicord, and Adalyn Peddicord; one great-grandchild on the way; one sister, Mary (Jim) Johnson; and two nieces, Sandy (Joe) Hermann and Brandy (Pico) Macchia.
Preceding Dr. Cummings in death are his parents, Gordon and Marlitta Cummings.
A memorial service for Dr. Cummings will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 5:00 pm at Lindsey Funeral Home with Bro. Jared Baker officiating. Friends may visit the family from 3:00 to service hour.
