Edgar Thompson

Edgar Leroy Thompson, 97, of Paducah, husband of Mina Lea Thomas Thompson, died Monday, July 27, 2015 at his residence.

Born March, 18, 1918 in Ballard County, he was the son of the late Edgar Lee Thompson and Willie Harkless. His Stepmother was Ocie Dilday Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a World War II veteran, having served as a Lt. Colonel in the US Army in the European Theater of Operations. He took part in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland campaigns, retiring after 35 years of military service.

Surviving are his wife, Mina; three daughters, Harriet Martin of Indiana; Alicia Kae Lane of Kuttawa; and Renee Martin of Virginia; three stepchildren, Gerry Gray of LaGrange, GA, Edward R. Thomas of Nashville, TN, and Charles Allen Thomas of Olive Branch, MS; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lt. Colonel Thompson was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel H. Thompson; and one son, Edgar Leroy Thompson, Jr.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, August 3, 2015 at Lindsey Funeral Home, with Bro. Bobby Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 9:00am until 11:00am Monday at the funeral home.
