Elinor Howard Threlkeld, age 85, died December 9, 2014 at her home in Paducah, KY.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and friend.
Elinor was born January 1, 1929 to Lawrence Howard and Velda Simpson Howard in Rosiclare, Illinois. She was the third of four children; her older brothers Don and Paul Howard preceded her in death and she is survived by her younger brother David Howard.
She graduated from high school in Rosiclare and went to work for local dentist Dr. Scott. She soon met her husband to be, William G. Threlkeld on a blind date at the drug store soda fountain in Rosiclare. They married when William (Bill) finished his time in the US Navy and made their home in Rosiclare. Elinor and Bill had two children, Phillip Howard Threlkeld and Marsha Ann Threlkeld.
The family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1957 and Elinor busied herself as a homemaker, a room Mother at school, and soon made good friends and enjoyed activities in her new southwestern community.
Elinor became a grandmother in 1990, a job she thoroughly enjoyed and was made for.Her Grandson Graham J. Threlkeld-Guy called her Nanny and under her guidance learned many card and board games making for sweet times at the kitchen table.
She is survived by her daughter Marsha Threlkeld-Guy, son-in-law Philip Nicholas Threlkeld-Guy, and grandson Graham J. Threlkeld-Guy, of Seattle, Washington, her brother David Howard of Nashville, TN, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Her husband Bill preceded Elinor in death by 12 days. On December 6th they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her son, Phillip Howard Threlkeld.
A memorial service for Elinor and Bill will be held at the Lone Oak Church of Christ at 2960 Lone Oak Road, In Paducah, KY on December 13th 11:00 AM. Family and friends welcome.
