Faye Hendrickson

Faye Hendrickson, 75, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 29 at 8:50 pm by family and friends.

Faye was born April 5, 1944 in Calvert City to Jesse and Leona Burkeen. She graduated from North Marshall High School in 1962 and later through her younger years she paved a path of lending a hand to anyone in need. This led her to a successful career as a licensed practical nurse after graduating from Paducah Community College in 1992.

Faye was diagnosed with lung cancer in November of 2018, facing her foe with grace, courage, and dignity. She spent 14 months battling this implacable disease. She achieved temporary relief from treatment at the Brown Cancer Institute in Louisville, but the complications of the disease progressed. She was able to return back to her Western Kentucky home with the help of Nelson Co. Hospice and Lourdes Hospice. Faye had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her ability to sense when people needed her help. She touched many lives all over this world with her generosity and passion for life.

Faye is preceded in death by her late husband, Jewell Hendrickson; six brothers, William, Cletus, Cecil, Donnie, Jerry, and Terry Burkeen; four sisters, Hazel Peck, Gladys Divine, Betty Ryan, and Joy Darnell.

Faye is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline Faye (Shawn) Dumas of Paducah and Christina Jewell (Lynn Bean Marchese) Hendrickson of Bardstown, Ky; four brothers, Buel, Johnny, Dale, and Tommy Burkeen; five grandchildren; Brytni Faye Word, Shawn Zachary Dumas, Noah Christopher Dumas, Tyler Vaughn, and Regan Nance Marchese; two great-grandchildren, Ka’Lieya and DJ Wilson; and 37 nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Faye Sunday, January 5 at 4:00 pm at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah with Pastor Gwendolyn Duncan officiating.
