Fred Wilson Pittard, 82 passed away January 16, 2012 in Tallahassee, FL.
He was born June 28, 1929, in Pulaski, Tennessee to the late Fred Eugene and Ruth Estes Pittard. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, with a Bachelor of Science, and was a chemical engineer for Atochem Chemical Corporation in Calvert City, Kentucky. He developed 2 patents for refrigeration and plastics and was also a chemical consultant for refrigeration. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served during Korea, and was a 1st Lieutenant and electronics instructor. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and master gardener.
He is survived by his children, Craig and Sheila Pittard, Robin and Andy Cardenas, Wendy Mathews-Wheeless and husband, Jerry; his grandchildren, Brandice Pittard, fiancé, Bryce Pelfrey, Brittany Pittard, Paul Diaz, Katie Diaz, Evan and Suzanne Mathews, Kelby Mathews Steele (Kyle), Justin Wheeless (Courtney), Jake Wheeless (Alison); great-grandchildren, Jake Wheeless, Jr., Lauren Wheeless, Devenney Wheeless; nephews, John Young, Hank Young, Jeff Pittard; and close friend, Gleycia Mathis and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children, Janet Pittard Weiland; one brother; and two sisters.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 5:00pm until 6:00pm at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah. A private burial will be at Mount Kenton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boystown.
