S.F.C Fred J. Rodriguez passed away peacefully surrounded by his son and loved
ones on November 24, 2021, at the age of 82 in Mayfield, Kentucky. As a resident
of Albuquerque, NM he retired from the Army Reserve as a Sergeant First Class
and from Sandia National Laboratory.
Fred was an avid golfer, and with his son traveled and played every chance they
had. He loved to sing and dance and was a member of several singing groups in
Albuquerque. He sang with the Choralaires at the Palo Duro Senior Center, the
Sing-along group at the Manzano Mesa Senior Center, the Judd band, and sang
gospel music in a karaoke group at the American Legion Post 49. Fred recorded a
DVD with 25 of his favorite songs, singing Acapella, and was in the process of his
second recording.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Aniceta Salazar-Rodriguez.
He is survived by his one son, Marc, ten sisters, Sister Therese Rodriguez, OP,
Helen Rivera (Fred+), Lydia (Bailey+) Padilla, Agnes (Richard) Johnson, Margaret
(Joe) Trujillo, Gabriella (William) Sarver, Marijon (Ben) Garcia, Carmen M.
Rodriguez (Charles Harrington), Edna Rodriguez and Rosarito Rodriguez (Robert
Kinney). Four brothers, Roberto, Orlando, Daniel, and Ernest (Hazel).
Fred will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
Services will be held on December 22, 2021, at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic
Church at 11:00am, 811 Guaymas Pl NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108
A second Mass will be held on December 23, 2021, at Holy Cross Catholic Church
at 10:00am, in Santa Cruz, New Mexico
A private family burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full
Military Honors at a later date.
