Biography

Captain Harold E. Howe, 90, of Paducah died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Baptist Health of Paducah.

Captain Howe was a member of the US Navy and served in WWII. He was a member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion for 40 years. His career began on the Western Rivers in 1944. He worked for several Marine transportation companies before retiring as a Captain and Pilot for the Delta Queen Steamship Company.

He is survived by his daughter, Marla Miller (Chuck) of Reidland; one granddaughter, Valerie Hooper of Paducah; and two great-grandchildren, Brian Nelson of Crittenden Co, and Hannah Walker of Paducah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Birdie Lee Howe; father, George Edward Howe; mother, Lula Deen Roberts; and one grandson, Brian Sullivan.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 1:00pm at Lindsey Funeral Home with Rev. Lyman Hutcheson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00am- 1:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to VFW Post 1191 in Paducah.
