Helen Watwood Gowins, 102, of Metropolis passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at her daughter’s residence.
Those left to mourn her passing are her son, David Gowins; daughter, Julie Stewart; five grandchildren, Diane Leonard, Clay (Pam) Stewart, Jon (Lisa Dawn) Stewart, Carolyn Gowins, and Laurie Mench; seven great-grandchildren, Darby (Chrissy) Stewart, Lisa Marie (Matt) Cooper, Caela (Jeff) Ward, Bonner Leonard, Chelsea Stewart, Jeb Stewart, and Michaela Gowins; three step-great-grandchildren, Jason Little, Ryan Little, and Sara Neihoff; seven great-great-grandchildren, Eli Reynolds, Jack Stewart, Ava Stewart, Evelyn Cooper, Emmett Cooper, Lennox Ward, Collette Stewart; and her loving caregiver, Robin Wallace.
Helen was a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 44 years. She worked at the Good Luck Glove Company and after retiring found joy in having numerous children in her home daycare. Born in Wickliffe, KY in 1916, her parents were Bob and Eva Watwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret Knowles and Clara Gerde; one brother, Robert Watwood; one son-in-law, Bob Stewart; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Gowins; one grandson-in-law, Bonner Leonard Sr.; and one grandson, Michael Gowins.
Graveside services will be at 11:00am on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jack Russell officiating.
