James D. Hayden, 77, of Paducah passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Southgate Nursing & Rehab in Metropolis.
James was a former route salesman for Colonial Baking Company and member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church. In the last few years, he attended Gospel Mission Worship Center. He loved watching UK basketball. He earned his Purple Heart while serving his country as a Vietnam Veteran.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Glenna Hayden of Paducah; two children, Carol Ann Greenup of Paducah and Rhonda J. (James) Lee of Sharpe; one brother, Charles “Buck” (Eva) Hayden; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Catherine Hayden; two children, Barbara Ann Smith and William Thomas Cunningham; and four siblings, Joseph Hayden, Stella Nelson, Johnny Hayden and Larry Hayden.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Lindsey Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family from 11:00am to service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
