James Edward Long, 93 of Kevil, Ky. Passed away on Sunday December 29th at 8:15am, at New Haven Assisted Living Home in Kevil Ky.
He is now gone to be with his beloved wife Earlene Hayden Long in heaven. He has missed her for the last 20 years.
For many years he raised cattle. He finally stopped at the age of 82. But he still loved to go to the cattle sales as long as his health let him.
Some of his favorite things to do were to visit with friends in person or by phone. He loved reading the newspaper or magazines and watch TV.
He was a member of New Liberty Methodist Church, and a part of the family at New Haven Assisted Living at Kevil, Ky.
He is survived by three nephews; Gene (Carla) Gough of Kevil, Lynn (Sally) Gough of Bowling Green, Ky., and Gary Long of Metropolis, Il., two nieces; Pat (Lee) Malloy of Houston, Tx., and Mary (Jimmy) Bumpous of La Center, Ky., and one dear friend Kenneth Wray of Kevil, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Willie (Rudd) Long, his beloved wife Earlene (Hayden) Long, two brothers; Asa Long and Morris Long, one sister; Mary Geneva Gough, and two nephews; Charles Gough and Randy Long.
Visitation will be held Thursday from five to eight pm at Lindsey Funeral Home with services on Friday at 11am with the Rev. Randy Stacy officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Cemetery. Pall bearers will be; Tracey Sullivan, Bill Warford, Jordan Gough, Tyler Gough, Terry Thompson, and Gary Hammonds. Honorary pallbearers will be; Norman Ellis, Kenneth Wray, Billie Jean Hook, and Bob Wilson.
In lieu of flowers the family would ask that you make donations to the Lourdes Hospice Organization, or the building fund for New Liberty Methodist Church at Kevil Ky.
