Dr. James “Jim” R. Roush, 73, died Tuesday at Baptist Health Paducah.
A native of Morgantown, Indiana, Dr. Roush received his medical degree from Indiana University. He worked as a pathologist at Lourdes hospital until 2005. During his retirement, he taught anatomy and physiology part-time at West Kentucky Community & Technical College. He was involved both onstage and behind the scenes at the Market House Theatre. An avid reader, history buff and art lover, Dr. Roush volunteered at the library and at the National Quilt Museum.
He is survived by a son, Ted, of Pace, Fla.; daughter Laurel Black, of Paducah; daughter Emily Feinberg (Manley), of St. Louis and two grandchildren, Lizzy and Manley. He also leaves behind a sister, Rhonda Bell (Gary) of Indianapolis; nephew William of Indianapolis; nephew Michael and sister-in-law Rita of Whiteland, Indiana and niece Kelly Peine (Scott), of Greenwood, Indiana. He was preceded in death by brothers Steve and William, and his parents, Cynthia Williams and Richard Roush.
A memorial service will be held for Dr. Roush from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the River Discovery Center, 117 S. Water Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839 Boone, IA 50037.
