John W. Franklin Jr.

February 1, 1927 — November 22, 2017

John William Franklin, Jr., 90 of Paducah, passed away at his home surrounded by family on November 22, 2017.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Being a Korean War Veteran, Private First Class.  John dedicated his life to the church.  Pastoring Shady Grove Church of God for over 30 years.  H was a loving father, grandfather, and member of his community.  John loved quilting, fishing, fox hunting and working in his garden and lawn.

From a large caring family, John was a widower, surviving Hazel, Marie and Ada.  He is survived by his daughter, Anna Courtney (Jim) of Paducah.  One son, Bill Franklin of Dixon, IL.  Two brothers, Don and Jim Franklin and two sisters Allen Johnson and Shirley Blair.  Three grandchildren, Michael Franklin of Winnebago, IL.; Eric Davenport (Shay) of Possum Trot, KY., Brian Davenport (Christy) of Paducah.  He had twelve great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Addie B. Franklin; father John Franklin Sr.; Five brothers; Carl, Nelson, George, Billy G., and David.  Five sisters; Lola Medley, Gladys E. Powers, Dila Mae Emery, Viola Harper, Norma Turner.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday November 27, 2017 at Lindsey Funeral Home.  With Bro. Richard Dobbs officiating.  Visitation will be from 12 noon until funeral hour Monday.  Internment to follow at the Story Cemetery in Marshall County, with military honors.
