John M. Seely Sr.

John M. Seely Sr., 67 of Kevil, KY died on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Seely is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley (Adkins) Seely; three sons, John Seely Jr.and his wife, Brandi of Murfreesboro TN , William Erik Seely and wife, Jill of Paducah, and Steve Turner and wife, Renee of Kevil; six grandchildren, Cody, Shelby, Makayla, Madyson, Dexter, and Ruby; and a host of family, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Seely; his mother, Willie Lee “Hurst” Seely; one brother, James Seely; in-laws, Bill and Nola Adkins; and brother-in-law, Lee Smith.

John was a member of Spring Bayou Baptist Church in Kevil, KY, an air force veteran, and a Mason. He was known as “pop” to all his grandkids except Dexter who he was and always will be known as “paw”.

Although disabled for the past 20 years John retained an amazing attitude and was happiest when he could joke with someone. His doctors and nurses will miss him dearly as he always made them smile.

Per John’s request he will be cremated and graveside services will take place on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Piney Grove Cemetery in Midtown, TN at 3:00pm. His oldest son, Rev. Steve Turner, pastor of Cane Creek Baptist Church in Wickliffe, KY will officiate.
