John Paul Smallman, 78, of Metropolis passed away at 4:47am on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Baptist Health Paducah surrounded by his family.
Mr. Smallman formerly worked in the operations department at Jewell T Company in Chicago and was retired from the maintenance department at Allied Signal. He owned Smallman’s Restaurant in Metropolis for 43 years. He was also a member and elder of the 32 nd Street Church of Christ.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Linda Smallman of Metropolis; four children Paula (Steve) Foss, Kaela (Kevin) Smith, Marla (Patrick) Mitchell, John Brandon Smallman all of Metropolis; ten grandchildren, Heather Foss, Stephanie (Barry) Woodward, Kevin Scott Smith, Destiny Mitchell, Whitney Smith, Dalton Mitchell, Lakin Smith, Summer Smallman, Brody Smallman, Hallee Smallman; two great-grandchildren, Emrey Foss and Henry Woodward; three sisters, Liz (Lewis) Lowe, Bert (Louis) Yates, Sue (Gary) Gentry; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Lille; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Devona Smallman; one sister, Mattie Farris; one brother-in-law, Raymond Lille; one sister-in-law, Helen (Leonard) Windhorst; and two nephews, Tony Lillie and Keith Windhorst
Memorial services will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the 32 nd Street Church of Christ with Minister Ron Griffin officiating.
Friends may visit the family from 12:30pm to service hour on Sunday at the church.
