Joyce A. Jones, 92, of Paducah, died February 16th, 2015 at home with family at her side.
Joyce was born Ann Joyce Cornish in Sussex England, April 26, 1922. She grew up in a military family and lived in Nairobi, Kenya during her childhood. During WWll, she joined the Royal Womens Air Force serving as a Staff Sargent and was a chemical weapons instructor. She married Frederick Jones and moved to the United States in 1945. She was the mother of three children, Laurence, Michael and Anthony, and throughout her life resided in Illinois, Indiana, New York, and Texas.
Mrs. Jones was an avid movie buff able to name the academy award winners since its inception, WWII nostalgic and a creative hobbyist. The last several years, she took pride and pleasure taking the bus to the senior center to spend the day with friends.
She is survived by two sisters, Valerie Rid of Birmingham, England, and Sylvia Grier of Paducah; two sons, Dr. Laurence (Sandy) Jones of San Angelo, Texas, and Dr. Michael (Lisa) Jones of Paducah; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Frederick; her parents, James and Clara Cornish; one brother, Jack; and one son, Anthony, (Gig).
