Kathy Denise (Mullins) Greenwell, age 77, peacefully left this world at her home on Saturday,
March 9, 2024, with a yard full of Cardinals. She had a loving, feisty, beautiful soul. Kathy was a
loving wife, mother, grandmother and fur baby mom. She was a true hero and warrior to the very
end.
Kathy was born on April 1, 1946, in Evansville, Indiana. She attended Bosse High School. She
grew up on the Ohio River camping and water skiing with her family. She often referred to
herself as a “River Rat” who loved the river. Kathy loved animals from a young age. After high
school she went to work at Alcoa as a Data Entry Specialist where she met her husband James
(Dick).
Kathy loved to travel, especially to the ocean. She found joy and peace while near the ocean. She
loved to garden and had such a green thumb. Her yard was always full of beautiful flowers. Her
legacy lives with all the animals she rescued and placed in homes throughout her lifetime. She
was an avid cat lover and helped hundreds of cats find homes. Her memory will be cherished by
all who were fortunate enough to experience her unique and spirited presence. She was our
sunshine.
