Kelly “KYD” Varner, of Paducah passed away peacefully at his home at 1:18 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016.
Kyd graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School, and attended SIU at Carbondale, IL. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a Survival Lt.
He is survived by his wife, Kym Stembridge, and his beloved cat, Elvis P. Kitty. He is also survived by his son, Lance Varner of Paducah; one daughter, Amanda (Shane) Hill of Symsonia; and his loving sister Denise (Lyndal) Graff of Marion, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Varner and mother June (Houghland) Kiefer; one brother, Frederick Varner; and his beloved grandparents. His maternal grandparents were Alec Houghland and Emil and Mildred (Houghland) Kiefer and his paternal grandparents were James and Ola Varner.
Kyd’s legacy will live on for all to see as he was known to most as the best mason around through the love and pride he put into his business, USA Tile and Masonry. Kyd will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Upon his request there will be no visitation or services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
