Larry E. Lindblad entered Heavens gates at 8:10 pm Thursday, March 31, 2011.
He was born in Huntsville, Alabama on July 17, 1942. Despite many health issues throughout his life, he was able to accomplish many tasks. He was founder and owner of Lindblad and Associates, Inc., a local HVAC contractor for 42 years; and was a member of Heartland Worship Center. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1967, where he learned his trade in heating, a/c and refrigeration. While in the service he was a part time meat cutter.
After leaving the service, he was head meat cutter for the Kroger Co. for a brief time. In addition, he was a HVAC Inspector for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, when the program was implemented in 1996. He was also a HVAC Instructor at Tilghman Vocational School for a short period of time.
Mr. Lindblad worked at the T.V.A. Shawnee Steam Plant in the 1970s and the Railroad Shop during the 80s, where he made many lifelong friends.
He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He won many trophies while racing motorcycles and enjoyed trail riding as well. His love for the outdoors was extreme: hunting, riding four-wheelers and trips to Alaska for hunting were great adventures for him. Going to his farm and riding his tractor was his preferred way of relaxing.
He loved his family dearly and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren a man with a good heart, very wise and smart; yet simple, determined and strong-willed.
Mr. Lindblad will be sadly missed by all who loved him, but he left us all a little smarter and braver by his courage, fighting the battles of life with dignity.
He is survived by his wife Patti, his high school sweetheart for 49 years; his son, Mike Lindblad and his wife Julie, of Kevil; daughter, Laura (Bug) Danby and her husband Matt, of Kevil; daughter / granddaughter, Michelle (Fly) Lindblad Spears and her husband Josh, of Kevil; two brothers, Jim Lindblad of Paducah and Jackie Lindblad and his wife Claudia, of Paducah; one sister, Carolyn Adams and her husband Eddie, of Paducah; one sister in law, Sharon Peck Elrod; eight grandchildren, Michael S. Lindblad and his wife Danielle, of Paducah, William Chad Martin of Benton, Brittany (Britt) Lindblad of Kevil, Leah (Leah Mitea) Danby of Kevil, Rayanne (ReRe) Lindblad of Kevil, Jade (Dude) Spears of Kevil (who named him HoHo), and Chance (Wayne) Spears of Kevil, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Lindblad was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Virginia Lindblad; one nephew, Jared Lindblad; and one niece, Janah Lindblad Luther.
Friends may call from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, April 4, 2011 at Lindsey Funeral Home.
Services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday April 5, 2011 at the funeral home, with Rev. Kenneth Brown and Bro. Don Young officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
