Leroy Edward Bess

Leroy Edward Bess, 75, of Benton passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Southgate Nursing and Rehab in Metropolis, IL.

He was born on January 29,1948 to Leona Herron Bess and Adrian Gilbert Bess.

Leroy was a U.S. Army Veteran and of the Pentecostal Faith. He was also a member of the VFW.

Surviving are his three children, Amy (Dale) Vought of Lee County, AL, Darcy Lee Rich of Mayfield, Wendy Kay (Michael) Glover of Mayfield; four siblings, Robert (Judy) Bess, Richard (Delora) Bess, Rebecca Milam, Linda Pemwell; six grandchildren, Christopher Kyle Thompson, Dale Robert Vought II, Logan Shane Rich, Laken Seth Rich, Emily Kay Gilford, Allison Mitcham; his former spouse, Sarah Jane Bess; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Leona Bess; one brother, Adrian Bess Jr.; brother-in-law, Dan Ray Pemwell; and son-in-law, Eric Lee Rich.

Private family services will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Bess’s honor may be made to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospice.
