Linda Nadien Worthen, 72, of Metropolis passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019, surrounded by her family at her daughter and family’s house in Clarksville, Tennessee.
She was born on May 23, 1946, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, and proved to be a blessing to all who knew her. She graduated from Metropolis Community High School in 1964 and Draughon’s Business College in 1966. After graduating, she worked as a legal secretary for a lawyer, for the chief engineer of Paducah Power System, and as a deputy sheriff for the Massac County Sherriff’s office. She also was a devoted caregiver for her mother and father. She married her longtime love and next-door neighbor, Phillip Worthen, on December 30, 1972. She became a stay-at-home mother after the birth of their only child, Molly, in 1980. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who showed love and kindness to everyone she knew. She was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God in Metropolis for over 35 years. She loved the Lord and serving Him was her main purpose in life.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Phillip Worthen of Metropolis; one daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Levi White of Clarksville, Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Brock and Delilah White of Clarksville, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and Rollin Tucker.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Lighthouse Assembly of God with the Rev. Mark Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit the family from 11:00am to service hour on Friday at the church.
