Lowanda Marie (Fick) Farris

Lowanda Marie Farris, daughter of the late Lydia Hinners and Raymond Fick, was born in Massac County, Illinois on April 4, 1924. She passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. She was 96 years old. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lannis Loren Farris.

Lowanda spent her lifetime in Massac County where she worked hand in hand with her husband Lannis raising cattle and farming. She was an avid gardener and seamstress. Lowanda was a member of the Homemakers Club and spent much of her time quilting, canning, and cooking, some of her many passions. She also loved caring for her great grandchildren, passing along her family traditions.  She was a member of the Hillerman Baptist Church.

Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, her brother Ed Fick, and sisters Freda Fuqua and Verna Gurley.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter and son-in-law, Linda Sielbeck and Stanley Sielbeck of Grand Chain; her two granddaughters, Marsha of Ocala, Florida and Tammie of Grand Chain; four great grandchildren, Ashtin of Citra, Florida, Brianna of Karnak, Cameron of Ocala, Florida, and Savanna of Kevil, Kentucky; four great, great grandchildren, Kase, Layla, and Aspyn of Kevil, Kentucky, and Jaxon of Ocala, Florida; her brothers Loyd Fick and John Fick; her sister Mary Collins; many loved ones and many friends.

Lindsey Funeral Home of Paducah, Kentucky was in charge of arrangements.

Lowanda will be laid to rest next to her husband Lannis at I.O.O.F.

Active pallbearers are Brett Williams, Casey Douglas, Keith Fick, Brandon Wilke, Paul Pritchett and Stephen Collins.
