Mamie Jo Thornton

Mamie Jo Thornton, 84, of Calvert City, passed away January 9, 2020, in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Mamie was a member of Trace Creek Baptist Church and was also a member of their Senior Saints program. Though she did several things throughout life, Mamie was best known as a caretaker. She took everyone under her wing and loved whoever needed it. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mamie is survived by four children, Katherine Thornton, Lex Walter (Rhonda) Thornton Jr., William D. Thornton, and Michelle (Kent Sr.) Cletcher; eleven grandchildren Danny Jo Dean, Lex (Chantelle) Thornton III, William C. (Destiny) Thornton, Zachery (Shelby) Cletcher, Michael Thornton, Kent Cletcher Jr., Alexis Thornton,  Alexis Williams, Madison Hannan, Joseph Thornton, and Amber Scott; one brother, William Collum; seven great-grandchildren, Caden and Kierian Thornton, Carson, Cameron, and Abigail Thornton, and Gabe Smith; a special sister-in-law, Diane Collum; and several nieces and nephews.

Mamie is preceded in death by her husband, Lex Walter Thornton Sr.; companion George Benton; one daughter, Debra Lynn Thornton; one granddaughter, Lisa Marie Dean; and three brothers, Luster Collum, Donald Collum, and Douglas Collum.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 17 at 2:00 pm at Lindsey Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Stinson Jr. officiating. Friends may visit the family from 12:00 pm to service hour. Burial will follow at Trace Creek Cemetery.
