Manfred Whiteside

Manfred “Archie” Lee Whiteside, 83, of Hickory died at 6:36 p.m. Saturday at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield.

Mr. Whiteside a native of Weldon, IL. He was a member of Trace Creek Baptist Church, retired from Union Carbide (USEC), and a U.S. Army Air Corp WWII veteran. He was a member of the VFW Post #1191 in Paducah where is served as Service Officer, he was also a VAVS representative in Marion, IL.

He is survived by three daughters, Diana Record of Paducah, Detra Starnes of Boaz and Denise Cole of Junction City, OR; one son, Danny Whiteside of Boaz; two step-daughters, Sheryle Guess of Boaz, and Debbie Morris of Princeton; two step-sons, John Roberson of Hickory and Bobby Hoskins of Mayfield; one sister, Zella Jean Rushing of Ark; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; six step grandchildren and 11 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Rice and Hazel Parr Whiteside; his first wife, Mary Ann Whiteside and his second, Ada Marzee Whiteside; and three step-grandchildren.

Military graveside rites will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ronnie Stinson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 Wednesday at Lindsey Funeral Home.
