Margaret R. Jones, age 89, of Grand Rivers, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at home.
She was born on April 11, 1922, in Tiline, Kentucky. Margaret, known by many as Granny, Aunt Margaret, or Miss Margaret, lived a full life. She loved working on the farm, and she also worked as a welder, an accountant, and a Rosie Riveter in World War II. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her brother, Ralph Smith of Calvert City; her sister, Alice Mattingly of Grand Rivers; her grandchildren, Roxie Foley of Benton, John S. Duncan of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and Peggy Ford and Eleni Sheehan of Gainesville, Florida; her great-grandchildren, Kristi Latta of Benton, Jeremy Perrin of Calvert City, Zachariah and Alexia Duncan of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and Terrence and Patrick Ford of Gainesville, Florida; her great-great grandchildren, Halee and Peyton Latta of Benton, and McKenzie Perrin of Calvert City; and extended family in Grand Rivers, Paducah, Smithland, and the surrounding area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest L. Jones of Grand Rivers; her parents, John and Clara Smith; brother Charles Smith; and sisters Juanita Harp, Helen Champion and Joyce Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland. Friends may call the Funeral Chapel after 10:00 A.M. Saturday morning.
