Elizabeth Kell Bazzell, passed away Friday October 22, 2010 in Orange Park Florida, surrounded by her niece and nephew. She was born January 26, 1920 to the late Joel and Ella Kell from Danville Tennessee. She was a resident of Paducah for over 85 years. She moved to Florida to be closer to family, as she battled lung cancer this past year. She is survived by her brother's six children: George Kell of Jacksonville, Fl; Carolyn Biggs of St Augustine, FL; Robert Kell and Nancy Therrell of Mobile, AL; Barbara McElroy of New York, NY; and Patti Craig of Lubbock, TX. She is survived by numerous cousins from throughout the country, including two from the local area; Ollie Mae Ramage of Burna and Eugene Kell of Paducah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Bazzell, who died August 1981; and her brother, Harry Kell, who died in May 2000. As a long time resident of Paducah, she had many cherished friends. The family wishes to publicly thank two of those friends, Susie Peck and Janice Harris. These two ladies were an important part of her life. To her family, they were an incredible support system throughout her illness. Elizabeths first job was working in the shirt factory during the war. Shortly thereafter, she went to work for Sears in the credit department. She retired from Sears after 30 years. After retirement, she kept herself busy doing for others. She spent many hours helping the Senior Community Center organize dances. She loved finding old records. She was a member of Margaret Hank Memorial Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a very private person with an incredible sense of humor and very dry wit. Her nieces and nephews remember her for always making them laugh. She was dearly loved by them. They were thankful to be able to care for her and enjoy her for this past year. She was a natural born caregiver, and spent her entire life helping others. The family will greet friends at Lindsey Funeral Home from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday evening, October 27th . Graveside services will be 11:00AM Thursday, October 28th at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Lindsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
