Michael David Cate

Michael David Cate, age 62 of Benton, KY, formerly of Pope County, IL, passed away on Sunday morning, Sept. 3, 2017 at his home. He was born Oct. 6, 1954 in Paducah, KY to Hubert Arthur (Bob) Cate (deceased) and Carmen Elgin Cate of Simpson, IL.

Michael attended Impact Church in Marshall Co. where he grew in his Christian faith. He loved his family, friends and pets with all his heart. He was a very educated man, having degrees in five different fields as well as being an Instructor at Western KY Community & Technical College. In addition, Michael was quite the entrepreneur having successfully owned many businesses through the years. He was always one who could make you laugh, even in the worst of circumstances. His last two years were hard for him, however, he kept a positive attitude and never gave up. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah A. Cate; his son Eric M. (Katy)Cate of Evansville, IN; step-son, Ryan C. Anderson of Dyersburg, TN; step-daughter, Nicole D. (Danny) Musgrave and step-granddaughter, Tatum of Benton, KY. He is also survived by two sisters, Cynthia (Phillip) Robinson of Simpson, IL; Deborah (Bob) Allison of Big Sandy, TX, and mother-in-law, Freda Finch of Benton, KY.

Michael’s Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Impact Church, 337 Flat Road, Benton, KY 42025, Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. with lunch served and celebration to follow. Those attending are invited to join us at 10:30 for praise and worship. Dress is casual. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Impact Church for outreach and missions.
