Michael Riley Goddard, 54, of Fredonia died at his home on Thursday, October 12, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Born in St. Louis, MO, on February 23, 1963 to the late Michael E. Goddard and the late Arlean Drury Seymour, he relocated to Princeton in his mid-teens to be raised by his maternal grandmother, the late Hazel Blackburn. Michael was also preceded in death by his youngest brother, Riley M. VanNorman, in 2002.
Michael was a seventeen year veteran of Western Kentucky Correctional Complex and Kentucky State Penitentiary as a correctional officer. Michael was an accomplished artist in many mediums, loved to cook and garden, and enjoyed reading. He was a member of Fredonia First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Shannon (Doom) Goddard, and their two daughters, McKenna and Shaye, both students at Caldwell County Middle School. He is also survived by his step-mother, Kay McLeod Goddard, of St. Charles, MO; multiple brothers and sisters, as well as nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, Michael has been cremated.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 2-5 PM in Coleman Hall at Fredonia First Baptist Church. All family, friends, church family, and former co-workers are invited to attend.
Lindsey Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
