Naomi Ruth Ellis (Burkhart), 83, of Brookport, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021, at her home with her husband, Norman “Buck” by her side.
Mrs. Ellis was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in West Paducah. Naomi was born on February 3, 1938, at 5:00 am to Samuel and Lula Burkhart in Highpoint, Kentucky. She married Norman “Buck” Ellis on February 9, 1974 and had a wonderful marriage of 47 years. They shared a beautiful love story that some would classify as fairy tale love. Naomi was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. For many years she hosted several family gatherings. She loved the many years of fishing and camping with her family and friends.
Surviving is her husband, Norman “Buck” Ellis of Brookport; three children, Candy (Terry) Yearout of Mesquite, Texas, Glen (Marlene) Ellis of Brookport, and Carla (Gene) Gough of Kevil; one sister, Patricia “Pat” Grainger of Copperas Cove, Texas; one brother, Sam Burkhart of Metropolis; six grandchildren, Amber Yearout of Mesquite, Texas, Cody Yearout of Mesquite, Texas, Kourtney (Danny) Christiansen of Richmond, Kentucky, Kelcey (Kyle) Johnson of Cadiz, Bradly (Jennifer) Gough of Paducah, and Cory Terrell of Kevil; two great-grandchildren, Kyla and Mauri: special friends David and Clara Wheatley; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving friends.
Preceding Naomi in death is her first husband, John Thomas Terrell; her parents, Samuel and Lula Burkhart; one brother, Perry Burkhart; and one sister, Joan Nimmo.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Pell Cemetery in Brookport with Rev. Larry Davidson officiating. Burial will follow.
Lindsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
