Norman “Buck” Ellis was called home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2023. He was born March 21, 1936 at Lock and Dam52 in Brookport, Illinois. He was 87 years old.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Naomi Burkhart Ellis; father and mother, Cecil “Jack” Ellis and Mary Frances Neal Ellis; sisters, Ann Yearout and Helen Benson; brothers Bernard Ellis and Morris Ellis; and many good friends.
He is survived by one sister, Juanita Jo Brackett; daughter Candy Yearout; son, Glen Ellis; daughter Carla Gough; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Norman retired from Allied Chemical where he worked for 20 years. Prior to that, he worked on the Smithland Lock and Dam project for three years and worked at a corrugated box factory in Chicago for 11 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He retired in his late 50’s, and he and Naomi spent many years doing what they loved, fishing and camping in the Kentucky and Barkley Lakes area. He was a devout Christian man of the Baptist faith and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Paducah, Kentucky. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends who knew him well, but he is reunited with those that preceded him in death, and what a joyous celebration it must be. A special thank you to all those family and friend show helped take care of him in his later years.
