Oscar Edens

Oscar John Edens, 90, of Paducah passed on Saturday, January 18, 2015 at Parkview Nursing and Rehab.

Mr. Edens was a retired clerk from the Illinois Central Railroad Shops. Oscar loved spending time with family and friends, especially children. He was a huge fan of UK Basketball, and could analyze a game as well as any sports commentator. He was an avid reader of science fiction, fantasies, mysteries, and westerns. Oscar was a kind and generous person, and always did his best to help others in need. He also had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed joking and laughter. He was loved and will be missed by many.

Surviving is one niece, Cathy Pepper of Austin, TX; one nephew, Jim (Laurel) Pepper of Gaithersburg, MD; two grandnieces, Laura Pepper (Nick) Petric of Knoxville, TN, Rachel Pepper of Gaithersburg, MD; and one special friend and companion, Anita McKinney of Paducah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lecta Edens; and by one sister, Evelyn Edens (Don) Pepper.

Graveside services will be at 11:00am on Friday at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Paducah with the Rev. Jae Gottman officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
