Pamela B. Suggs, 70, of Metropolis, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at Lourdes Hospital where she was surrounded by family.
Pamela was born on August 22nd, 1952 and was the daughter to the late Shirley Woods-Thompson and Darkus Woods. She resided in Illinois her entire life.
On September 15th, 1969, Pamela became Mrs. John Suggs. They were married through Vietnam, which John served, and had three boys together.
Most important to Pamela was her family. She dedicated her life to taking care of her boys, this included her main boy Johnny. She was their world and they each adore her.
This woman made her presence known in any room. She always had the most on trend hairstyles, clothes, and show stopping jewelry. Her hobbies were styling her home and gardening. Many people know her for the gorgeous Koi pond and waterfall that adorned her yard for years. She was also the queen of Christmas displaying stunning outdoor Christmas lights and indoor styled trees in every room. She dubbed her Christmas queendom to her granddaughters Kristin and Tiffany who carry the title in her honor proudly.
Most important to Pamela was family. Her life was spent as a devoted and loving wife, mother, granny, and ge’gee. Boy did she love her grandbabies something fierce.
Survivors include her husband John W. Suggs of Metropolis; three children, John G. Suggs and his wife Joy of Brownfield, Brian Suggs and fiancé Shanda Greer of Metropolis, and Casey Suggs and partner Angie Carlton of Metropolis; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany (Zach) Hynes of Grantsburg, John Suggs of Metropolis, Kristin (Granvil) Travis of Belknap, Blake Suggs of Unionville, and Kandace Suggs of Unionville, as well as 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Barb (Roy) of Brookport, 3 brothers Ivan (Mae) Woods of Metropolis, Randy (Pamela) Woods of Brookport, and Mike Woods of Metropolis and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents Shirley Woods-Thompson and Darkus Woods, sister Lisa Sommers, brother Glenn Woods, and granddaughter Katelyn Suggs.
Pamela’s passing wishes are being taken care of by Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah, Ky, and there will not be a public service. Family will have a private service to celebrate her life.
