Preston Timmons, 87 of Paducah passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Heritage Manor in Mayfield.
Mr. Timmons retired from the City of Paducah after thirty-four years of service. A member of First Baptist Church of Brookport, he was a World War II Army veteran, where he served with the Quartermasters Corps during the war and the occupation of Japan. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Timmons; two sons, Danny Timmons of Paducah and Raymond Timmons of Gilbertsville; three daughters, Helen Gilbert of Gilbertsville, Barbara Marie (Dave) Cullen of Mayfield, and Carolyn (Tommy) Montgomery of Gilbertsville; three stepdaughters, several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Timmons; one stepdaughter; four brothers; four sisters; and one grandson. His parents were Joe and Gordie Timmons.
Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Lindsey Funeral Home, with Pastor Dave Cullen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. At the funeral home.
