Richard Ray Sledd

Richard Ray Sledd, 66, of Reidland passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.

Mr. Sledd was a Kentucky Colonel and member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a a barber for the Arcade Barber Shop for 27 years before opening his own shop called Richard’s Barber Shop for 7 years. He also worked for the McCracken County Jail for 17 ½ years before retiring.  He was a member of Reidland Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending his free time doing wood work.

Surviving is his wife of 46 years, Linda Sledd of Reidland; one daughter, Melissa (Jason) P’Pool of Auburn, AL; four grandchildren, Courtney Stokes, Faith P’Pool, Jayden P’Pool, and Hope P’Pool.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Shelia Howell; and one grandson, Justin P’Pool. His parents were Virgil and Edna Sledd.

Memorial service will be at 11:00am on Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Reidland Baptist Church with the Rev. Ison and Rev. Stan Durrett officiating.

Friends may visit the family from 10:00am to service hour on Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to Reidland Baptist Church at 5559 Benton Rd. Paducah, KY 42003.
