Rita Odens

Rita Odens, 71, of Fulton, KY, formerly of Brookings, SD, passed away Sunday, January 17,

2021 at Mercy Health in Paducah, KY.

Rita was born on December 12, 1949 to Lincoln and Helen (Mossholder) Stewart in

Minneapolis, MN. She grew up attending school in Wisconsin until the family moved to

California where she graduated from Elk Grove High School. Rita married Robert Odens in

April 1970. To this union two daughters were born. Rita later had a son.

Rita worked primarily in manufacturing and as a homemaker. She enjoyed crafting in her free

time, watching HGTV, reading, listening to music, and doing puzzles. Rita was fortunate to

reacquaint with her high school sweetheart, Darrel, later in life. They spent the last several years

enjoying traveling and retired life. Rita was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Spending time with

her family was always Rita’s favorite pastime.

Rita is survived by her significant other, Darrel Thornbery; three children, Kimberly (Eric)

Odens of Bakersfield, CA, Jill (Brian) Pearson of Toronto, SD, and Dakota (Jami) Larsen of

Watertown, SD. 12 grandchildren: Kelsey (Jordan) Monnier, Kasey (Brad) Fieber, Hunter

Lipinski, Marty (Gabby) Tirrel, Dylan Tirrel, Kyle Tirrel, Kaden Pearson, Logan (Macy)

Pearson, Morgan Pearson, and Makaygan (Derek) Troska, Rylee Larsen, and Wyatt Larsen;

seven great-grandchildren, many relatives and friends, and her puppy, Itty Bit.

Preceding Rita in death are her parents, stepfather Donald Jacob, and two siblings.

Rita will be cremated and services will be held at a later date.
