Robert “Bob” Dotson Timmons, age 81, passed away at his home in Paducah, KY on May 5th, 2024.
Bob was born in Gilbertsville, KY on September 22nd, 1942. He grew up in the Taylor area of Michigan but would often visit family in Paducah during the summer. When he was 16, Bob decided he was finished with school and moved to Paducah to help his Uncle John Timmons with his Southside Paducah businesses - beginning with running the projector at his uncle’s drive-in. Bob had a natural gift for mechanics and carpentry. He used these skills at a variety of jobs including the National Guard, Allan Rhodes Auto, Paducah Ford, and the City of Paducah Public Works Department where he retired as a shop manager. He was passionate about racing and co-owned several dirt track cars over the years with his friends Jeff McGuins (deceased) and his brother Tim McGuins. Together, they were the McGuins racing team and spent most weekends at the Paducah International Raceway and other area dirt tracks.
Bob is survived by his “sis” Faye Wurts of Taylor, MI, niece Donna Geschke of Allan Park, MI, nephew David Wurts of Crosby, TX, nephew Guy Wurts of Taylor, MI, along with his cousins Ann Stooksbury of Peachtree City, GA, Bill Bennett and Joe Wilson both from Paducah, KY, and their respective families. He was preceded in death by his parent’s Rue Timmons and Corrine Kayse, along with his nephew Glenn Wurts. According to his wishes, there will be no memorial service. Anyone wishing to honor Bob may donate to his favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Shriners Children’s Hospitals.
