Rodney Wood

Rodney Wood, 69, of Paducah died Wednesday at Paducah Care and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Wood was a retired heavy equipment operator with Morsey Contractors Inc. and worked for Ed Tilford for over 20 years. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church of West Paducah, and a member of Local 181 Operating Engineers for over 40 years.

He enjoyed fishing, camping and riding the rapids at Current River. He was so proud of his sons following in his footsteps when they started Wood Brothers Excavating. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with friends. He cooked with River City Rib Ticklers in the past during B.B.Q. on the River. He will be missed by all.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Dale White Wood of Paducah; three sons, Danny Wood of Paducah, Bobby (Lisa) Wood of Paducah and Randy (Sheila) Wood of Paducah; one daughter, Tracy (Wayne) Sommers of Paducah; five grandchildren, Alyssa Sommers, Dylan Sommers, Ashton Goff, Rebecca Cowgur, Jayce Wood, all of Paducah; several nieces and nephews, Kit Atkinson, Zane Atkinson, Dana (Brad) Chandler, Brian (Stacey) White all of Paducah; his cousin, Jimmy (Lida) Wood and his son, Jamie Wood of Marion; several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Howard Wood and Effie Mae McBride Wood; one brother, William Eugene Wood.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Massac Cemetery in West Paducah with the Rev. Brent Ballow officiating. Burial will follow in Massac Cemetery.
