Roger Williams
October 20, 1942 — July 2, 2014
Roger T. Williams, 71, of Paducah, Ky., formerly of Peoria, Ill., died at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born October 20, 1942, in Metropolis, Ill., the son of Lankston and Eugenia Williams. He graduated from Edwards County High School. Roger married Lucille Zoephel on February 14, 1969, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Lucille; their two daughters, Jacqueline Merriman of Raeford, N.C., and Nancy (Don) Freeman of Rowlett, Texas; one brother, Dick L. (Jane) Williams of Peoria, Ill.; four sisters, Nancy Tassos of Winter Park, Fla., Bettye (Earl) Anderson of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Jane (Benard) Johnson of Old Saybrook, Conn., and Virginia (Douglas) Boelhouwer of Dillsburg, Penn.; and four grandchildren, Nathan Freeman, Gabrielle Grace Freeman, Kandas Merriman and Hannah Merriman.
Roger served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was post commander of the VFW Peter W. Sommer Post 814 of Peoria, Ill., for two terms. Roger worked at Komatsu Industries in Peoria for thirty years. His family were members of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Peoria. Roger helped care for his ailing parents for several years.
Cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no services.
